It’s only been a few days since we launched our Remove the Blindfold Project, but we’ve already received a lot of great photos from Minnesotans who want to make a statement about why it’s so important to create a pre-K quality rating system.
This weekend, while you’re spending quality time with your kids, grandkids or other special children in your life, we encourage you to grab a camera and take two minutes to join these Minnesotans.
Lawmakers may have tightened the blindfold over the eyes of Minnesota preschool parents when they stripped the pre-K quality rating system from the education finance omnibus bill, but that didn’t keep us from seeing a new opportunity to get pre-K reforms passed this year. Because Governor Dayton vetoed the education bill, he and the legislature are back at the negotiation table to hammer out a new compromise bill that will pass when a special session is called. That new bill is our chance to remove the blindfold over Minnesota families' eyes once and for all.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but at MinnCAN we believe it’s worth far more: the chance to make sure preschoolers across the state enter kindergarten prepared and ready to learn. This weekend, I encourage you to upload a photo so that lawmakers know that when it comes to choosing a quality preschool program, Minnesota parents shouldn’t be kept in the dark.
