Are you an educator? If so, we want to hear about your student teaching experience!

Tell us: Was your student teacher placement effective and helpful? Could it have been better?

This week, retired teacher Rep. Linda Slocum (DFL, 50A, Bloomington and Richfield) introduced legislation (HF 2575) at the state capitol that would require student teachers to be placed with Minnesota's best educators. These master teachers would be identified using the new teacher evaluation system, which rolls out in fall 2014. At MinnCAN, we believe this bill would help ensure that:

  • Novice teachers make the most of their student clinical experience by observing and receiving feedback from leaders in the field; and
  • Teachers who receive the lowest evaluation rating can fully focus on their own professional development and students' success.

Will you help us advocate for this legislation? Email us, and we’ll tell you how to get involved!

With your stories, feedback and involvement, we can ensure that student teachers receive the training and support they need to excel in the classroom–and, most importantly, to raise academic achievement for all kids.

Thanks for your help!
