Today I’m thrilled to introduce you to Holly Kragthorpe and John Hakes, our 2013-2014 School Reform Blogging Fellows!
In the coming weeks, Holly and John will start to report from the front lines of Minnesota’s education reform movement on our blog. In the meantime, learn more about our blogging fellows…
Holly—or “Mrs. Kragthorpe,” as her students refer to her—is a tireless advocate for teacher voices in education policy. Holly is a teacher for Minneapolis Public Schools, a union steward for the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers and a school captain for Educators for Excellence-Minnesota. As a resident of Minneapolis and a parent of children who attend MPS, Holly brings a commitment to innovation, equity and excellence to the work of education reform.
John—a "tinkerer" with educational ideas, is a long-time public education observer who has developed insights as a public school employee, volunteer, writer and a parent. In addition to this “cred” set, he possesses the celebrated MAPL glass apple, representing the Master of Advocacy & Political Leadership degree he completed at the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2012. John, his wife Jennifer, and their two kids who attend Mounds View Public Schools, reside in Shoreview.
We’re always on the lookout for opportunities where even more Minnesotans can share their ideas and values on public education. Join Holly and John by commenting on their blogs, and sharing their insights on Twitter and Facebook.
I’m ecstatic to have Holly and John join us. Congratulations to them both!
