The first week of August is turning out to be an exciting week for our Minnesota School Emergency in Effect campaign, and two of our campaign goals in particular:
-
Removing roadblocks for teachers. Back in March we celebrated the passage of a bill that helps great teachers get into the classroom without having to jump through unnecessary hoops. As of yesterday, the new law is in effect, giving teachers from proven programs like Teach for America the green light to enter our neediest classrooms.
-
Clearing the path to quality pre-K. Last week we told you that Governor Dayton has the power to do what the legislature failed to do: expand the Parent Aware pre-K quality rating system statewide and tie state dollars for pre-K to that system. Word on the street is he could make a decision sometime this week, so before he does, make sure he hears from you. Tell him to remove the blindfold from Minnesota families once and for all by clicking here.
We’ll keep you posted throughout the week on what happens, so stay tuned. To get updates throughout the day on what’s going on with our campaign, and the world of education in general, follow @MinnCAN on Twitter.
