This session, with the leadership of chief authors Rep. Linda Slocum (DFL-50A)–a former teacher–and Sen. John Hoffman (DFL-36), we’ve advocated for a commonsense, bipartisan bill to pair future teachers with highly effective educators for their student teaching experience.

But political games and a small but loud handful of legislators have stalled this legislation. (Read the play-by-play on MinnPost.)

This Friday, the student teacher placement legislation could make its way into the House Education Policy Omnibus Bill (HF 2397), but we need your help: Contact your representative–encourage them to do right by future teachers by voting "yes" on the floor amendment requiring student teachers be placed with highly effective teachers during their clinical experience!

Student teachers invest time and money in a 10-week clinical experience to learn from established educators. The least we can do is ensure that their clinical experience is meaningful and productive.

Send a note to your representative–ask them to give student teachers the mentors they need.

Help set thousands of student teachers—and, by extension, their future students—up for success.

Thanks for your support!
