Minneapolis—MinnCAN: The Minnesota Campaign for Achievement Now today announced that Laura Brod, Senior Vice President of LS2group and former state representative, has joined the nonprofit’s advisory board. At LS2group, Laura focuses on strategic planning, grassroots advocacy, coalition building and communications.

Previously, Laura served as Assistant Majority Leader and Assistant Minority Leader of the Minnesota House of Representatives, specializing in tax, healthcare, election and business issues. She has held leadership positions with the 21st Century Foundation, the Council of State Governments, the Midwest Legislative Conference and the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development, and is currently an at-large elected member of the University of Minnesota Board of Regents.

“Laura has a long history of serving Minnesota—both at and beyond the Capitol—and knows that high quality public education is critical to our state’s future,” said Daniel Sellers, MinnCAN executive director. “We’re thrilled that Laura’s varied experiences in advocacy and communications, as well as her extensive knowledge of the Legislature, will enhance our work to ensure that every Minnesota kid has access to a great public school.”

Brod added, “Minnesota is home to some of the country’s best schools, yet also some of the worst achievement gaps. I look forward to helping MinnCAN elevate changing-the-odds public schools and advocate for policy solutions that will replicate them, setting up our kids and state for greater success.”

Brod joins MinnCAN’s 10 board members: Benson Whitney, Michael Ciresi, Rev. Michael O’Connell, Ann Mulholland, Virginia Morris, Addison Piper, Lee-Ann Stephens, Tim Penny, Alex Cirillo, Jr., and Jan McDaniel.
