On August 21, nearly 8,100 Minnesotans dialed-in to our telephone town hall, "Meeting the 21st Century Needs of Every Minnesota Learner,” with Sen. Terri Bonoff (DFL) and Sen. Branden Petersen (R) to learn about opportunities to strengthen public education for Minnesota students.

Listen to the replay

The senators and MinnCAN invited Minnesotans to participate in the telephone town hall to discuss how we can better provide every child with access to a great public school. During the call, the senators engaged with voters on the topic, answered questions and discussed what people can do to help strengthen our schools.

About Sen. Brandon Petersen
Sen. Petersen (R) was elected to the Senate in 2012 after serving in the state House. He represents District 35, which includes portions of Anoka County. His legislative priorities include funding equity for a school with high needs but insufficient revenue and teacher evaluations that measure effectiveness by student progress rather than teacher proficiency.

About Sen. Terri Bonoff
Sen. Bonoff (DFL) was elected in 1995 and represents District 44, which includes portions of Minnetonka, Plymouth and Woodland in Hennepin County. During her tenure, she has been a champion for policies that help more kids access great teachers. This includes supporting alternative certification pathways for teachers, recognizing that great teachers come from many backgrounds, and efforts to retain highly effective teachers.
